In 1987 - The first FAME festival was held in a conference
room at the Grand Wayne Center. In 2012- The Twenty-Fifth
anniversary of the FAME festival will be held at the Grand Wayne
Center, one of the largest annual Grand Wayne events with expected
crowd of 15,000+.
FAME was jointly created by music specialist Dorothy Kittaka and
art specialist Michael Schmid as a means to fine arts horizon for
elementary school children. From the first single conference
room FAME has grown to a membership of arts teachers dedicated to
teaching cultural arts to K-8 children in northern Indiana.
Ongoing annual programs include Culture Kits, The FAME Fabulous
Flyer, Visiting Artists, the Composition Project, Fusion Concerts,
FAME Summer Arts Camps and regional Festivals. These programs
exist to provide the resources for students to experience and
participate in the creative arts. |
