Fusion of Concert Colors
***List of 2011 Fusion Ribbon Winners!!***
Fusion of Concert Colors: NE Indiana FAME’s Fusion of Concert Colors promotes interdisciplinary arts understanding by encouraging students to draw connections between musical selections and the visual arts. FAME members guide students to create artwork as they listen to music from our current cultural arts focus. All northern Indiana elementary and middle FAME schools are invited to participate in this FREE program for members.
Each year FAME partners with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic to select an orchestral work reflecting the year’s cultural focus. Children listen to this music and then create their own original artwork inspired by the music. The artwork is then displayed at Fort Wayne Museum of Art. One child’s artwork, per grade, is selected as the FAME Poster of the year and the poster is used to promote the FAME Festival throughout the region. In February and March 2011, over 200 pieces of children’s artwork were displayed representing 44 FAME member schools. At the Fort Wayne FAME Festival, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic performs the music that inspired the children’s art pieces and a giant slideshow displays all 200 art pieces behind the playing musicians. The children and families are honored guests at the Fort Wayne Festival concert. Examples of the art may be seen at this website Photo Gallery.
This year's feature music is the first movement from Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov. Call the FAME office for a copy of the CD. Many other performances of the first movement may be sampled on YouTube.
