FAME and the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra are co-sponsoring the 11th Annual NW FAME Fusion of Concert Colors project. This year’s musical selections will be La Mer by Claude Debussy and Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland. Teacher packets containing music with listening guides and lesson plan suggestions will be available in early September.

Each participating school may submit up to 5 (five) pictures to be judged. All artwork will be projected on a large screen during multimedia performances of the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra. All students, their parents, art and music teachers, and the principal are invited to attend as our guests. One picture has been chosen as the Grand Prize winner to be featured on a poster promoting the NW FAME Festival in March 2008.

Attention NW FAME Teachers: If you have students whose artwork was selected to be part of the NW Fusion Competition Exhibit, complimentary tickets to either of these concert performances are available for your students, their parents, art & music teachers, and the principal of your school. To receive your FREE tickets to these concerts, you must register with the NISO office prior to February 22, 2008. Each participating school may submit up to 6 (six) entries to be judged. One entry will be selected as the Grand Prize winner to become the annual FAME poster promoting the 2008 Festivals. The music selections this year are Symphony No 1 (Allegro) by Ned Rorem and The American Dream by Jame Beckel (two Indiana composers). Guidelines and requirements for participation include:

• Artwork must be 12”x18” mounted on 16”x22” poster board (no neon matting please). All entries must be flat and cannot be laminated.
• Suggested media: markers, watercolor, tempera, acrylic, cut paper, pencil, or ink.
• Each entry must have a completed entry form attached to the back. A copy of this info must sent to FAME with the list of entries.

Artwork must be delivered to the FWMA on October 22, 2007 from 9:00am to 6:30pm. Artwork must be picked up after January 2, 2008 and no later than January 7, 2008. Unclaimed artwork will be held for six months before disposal. The NE Fusion Grand Opening & Awards Ceremony will be held at the FWMA on Sunday November 4, 2007 at 1:00pm.

PLEASE NOTE: The Fort Wayne Philharmonic will these perform the Fusion Concert as a portion of their Celebration of Youth concert at the 2008 NE FAME Festival on March 9, 2008.
