Sayaka Ganz

Sayaka Ganz was born in Yokohama, Japan and grew up living in Japan, Brazil, and Hong Kong. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking from Indiana University in Bloomington. Sayaka was first introduced to welding during her junior year at Indiana University. She fell in love with the process and continued to work with it independently. She received Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Currently she teaches design and drawing courses at Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne. Her website is http://sayakaganz.com/Home.html

Using post-consumer plastic objects as her main materials, Sayaka’s recent sculptures depict animals in motion with rich colors and energy. Her recent exhibitions include: “Finding Freedom”- MFA thesis exhibition at the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery at Bowling Green State University, “Thinking in 3D” – an educational group exhibition at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, “Regional Winners”- Three award winners’ exhibition at Artlink Contemporary Art Gallery, and “Two Visions: Ink and Steel” – Solo exhibition of prints and sculptures at Robert E. Wilson Gallery, Huntington College. She will have a solo exhibition at Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne in March 2009.
